Hi, I’m Laura, the face behind the Wallflower Studio. I was born in Bristol, grew up in Yorkshire, returning to the West Country at the age of 7. I now live in West London and have done for the past 12 years.

From the first day I was able to pick up a pencil, drawing (& colouring in) fast became my favourite hobby. I would sit for hours and draw and never grew tired of filling sketch books and finishing colouring books, I could be left for hours… (not much has changed there!)

I also remember, when I was little, having a big pink blossom tree in our front garden, I was in awe of this tree and I remember vividly saying to my mum, one day, I want to live in a house full of blossom trees and all things flowery, bees also welcome!... I was always a bit of a day dreamer, gazing out of the window at school, floating around, often singing to myself… It was clear I could draw (not so much sing!), and I was destined to be an artist.

In 2007, after 3 years of art college, I went on to study Illustration at Kingston University in Surrey, pursuing dreams of having a career in a creative field. At this point I had a keen interest in fashion, however, I was unsure of how to combine all of these interests and choose a career path that was right for me. After graduating, I then later went on to become a Print Designer, working in the fashion industry, designing for the UK Highstreet. Everything finally made sense, and this was the perfect way to combine all my passions. Pretty floral prints (drawn by me) on pretty dresses! Glorious!

Fast forwarding to now, July 2021, and over the past year, during some difficult times, (a global pandemic) I have been on a bit of a creative path to self-discovery. I came to a tricky junction not knowing whether to continue down the road pursuing a career designing for someone else or taking the leap of faith and going it alone. After a bit of a push, I happily leaped to the occasion to build the Wallflower Studio.

Those dreams of living in a house full of flowers haven’t quite worked out to the letter (yet) but in some ways, you can say, they kind of have…

This is my house (studio), these are all the flowers I have grown (drawn)… (as well as a singer, I am definitely not a gardener… yet!). This is the talent I have been blessed with and this is where I belong… no more shying away!

The door to my house is wide open and you are all very welcome in! Wallflowers and all!

Thank you for visiting, I hope you enjoy all there is to see!
